Pat Andreine

Proprietor and Tour Guide

The Main Street Stitcher's Garden

Pat was raised in California both southern and northern. A Los Angeles Valley Girl and San Franciscan Hippie mixed breed. She began stitching at her grandmother's insistence that she learn a few of the skills passed down from her ancestors, like embroidery, crochet, and quilt making. (Besides I was ten and bored in the summer months, so I learned). Turns out embroidery was real popular in the sixties if done on denim and reflected the signs of the times, like peace symbols and cannabis leaves. But that was then......

Now Pat is in partnership to run the business she dreamed of long ago and resides right here in Longmont and has been in Colorado continuously for 28 years. She graduated from Sonoma State University in Northern California with a degree in Psychology, Business Administration and Womens's Studies. (Go SEAWOLVES, although they had no such team when she attended in the early seventies)  She had the goofy idea that she wanted to own her own business, just as soon as she could figure out what business that was, exactly.  Her loving father suggested she find work until the brainstorm happened so she did and found her niche in the field of accounting. When she's not at the shop, she'd busy at work for Denver SafeHouse, Inc, a shelter for battered women and their children, as the Controller. (Oh, she also holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a Masters of Science in Accounting from University of Colorado, Denver School of Business. (Now we're talkin' GO BUFFS).

What could appeal more to an accountant than "counted" thread embroidery which became her passion as a leisure activity around 1979?  She still insist it should be called "relativity" embroidery because after counting the first few threads, it becomes mostly relative for the next stitches and just a little counting.

Well to make a long story short, the closing of one door opened another and with a few conversations over coffee and many, many blessings along the way, The Main Street Stitcher's Garden, LLC began with open doors on November 15, 2005.  So much for leisurely stitching, but just about anytime on a Friday or Saturday you can find Pat in the shop, quizzing customers about what they are currently stitching on, on the computer to do the bookkeeping, making plans for better business practices, or sneaking in a stitch or two on one of the many projects she has going on at all times. Knowing no bounds on how many projects can be started and not finished, her companions and partner hold her to a 4-project limit at the store, and the rest have to stay home.

Pat wishes to thank all of the supporters of this store, too many to name here, without whom this store may not have become a reality, merging her two dreams, business and stitching, all rolled up into one! May your dreams also come true! Come chat, I'll help if I can.

Yes, Pat wrote this herself, but it has been approved by her partner for the fun of it all.

Nancy Boggio

Proprietor and Tour Guide

The Main Street Stitcher's Garden

Nancy is a native coloradan and spent plenty of time being a "farm girl" on her grandfather's ranch down around Castle Rock.  She now resides in Loveland with her husband Bob and two grown children, Lindsey and John.  Nancy and Bob recently celebrated 31 years of marriage! (GO BOGGIO'S) !  A little known fact, Nancy descends from royalty, the Stewarts to be exact.  She claims there is both an English method and a Danish method to cross stitching, depending on which way you cross, which has nothing to do with being left or right handed. (Wait a moment, are we talking about Mary Queen of Scots? And which method did she use do you think?)

Anyway, Nancy began stitching just as soon as she was old enough to manafe a needle and thread.  She was lovingly mentored by her Aunt Mildred, who served the public as a home economics schoolteacher in Glenwood Springs for 23 years.  Nancy followed in her footsteps and with a minor in Art, she graduated from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo with a degree in Home Economics and a Teaching Credential. (aka Cal Poly, GO MUSTANGS)!

She worked diligently as manager at a local needlework shop for the last decade andthen some.  She had a dream of owning her own shop and making it the best needlework shop hereabouts, where she could express her art, design her own creations and teach stitching.  she strives to treat her customers with same caring which she received under her Aunt's tutelage.  She invites everyone to come learn a stitch; it's easier when someone shows you how it is done!  She teaches every trick in the book to simplify and ease your stitching woes.

Counted Cross Stitch may be her favorite form of stitching, but she has done it all.  And whatever she does, the backs look as good as the fronts.  She herself can only explain this as "having done it for a long time."  She insists that the back doesn't count if you are having fun!  Her most recent endeavor beyond the operation of the shop was working several stitched pieces to be applied to the Accord Publishing, Needlepoint Calendar for 2007.  Someone must of heard she was also fast at stitching!  She was undaunted by the short timeline and put out some wonderful needlepoint pieces and shared this distinction with long time friend and supporter of The Stitcher's Garden, Jackie Rhoades.  Together they stitched up six calendar months in less than three weeks!

On a regular basis you can find Nancy at the store ordering special items for customers, chatting with a fellow stitchers in the big comfy chairs, working on class preparation materials, talking to design companies near and far, and making lots of little sticky notes to herself and others so she can recall all the things needed to make the store run smoothly.  She always has a smile and a big hello to greet you and truly wishes you to find the "joy of stitching" that she holds in her heart.  You can hear her say more than once, "It's supposed to be fun!"  She will untangle your threads, open your mind to switching colors, encourage you to add a "sparkly" something, and make you a cup of tea if you need a little TLC.

Written by her business partner, she's way to hunble to say all this good stuff about herself!
